11:30 p.m.

In Meridian Mississippi. I was so worried - Meridian - near Philadelphia - same place Schwerner, Goodman and Chaney were working

After an orientation preparing us for anything - I was really apprehensive - and more than frightened!

The bus trip here seemed so long. - No one met me and I had to make a phone call.- Such a long wait in the bus depot!

Community center is wonderful....small - dirty - messy - disorganized -----but out of this world!

Looks like I have the job of organization - many workers are going home.

My familly is delightful and how embarrassing - an air-conditioned bedroom!

All I know is - that for the 1st time, I feel contentment --- In the midst of fear - anxiety - injustice - hatred - this is contentment at knowing - catching a glimpse of what it is to live.
